The FR 747-The Best Medium Attack Vehicle

FR 747 MEDIUM ATTACK VEHICLE

The FR 747-The Best Medium Attack Vehicle in its class

For those wanting a proven medium attack fire fighting vehicle, the FR747 Isuzu Medium Attack has to be considered as the best of its type. The vehicle has been designed as a medium duty 4WD fire-fighting vehicle for rough terrain use, and forms the backbone of the Queensland Rural Fire Service's appliance range.

The FR747 Medium attack vehicle has been in production since 2000 with over 200 vehicles stationed across Queensland from Torres Strait Island to Stanthorpe. Since 2004, the New Zealand Fire Authority has also purchased 40 of the medium attack appliances, which they believe to be the best in their class.

The FR747 is ideal for
  • Escarpment Country
  • Heavily Treed areas
  • Rapid travel on Sealed Surfaces (the Isuzu Turbo Diesel apart from great reliability, delivers a comfortable 100km/hr)
  • House/Building fire fighting
  • Vehicle Fires.

Built on a tough Isuzu NPS 300 chassis the FR747 is equipped with a 2000 litre water tank that provides extended time at the fire front without needing to refill the tank.

A Subaru electric start 11 HP 50mm Robin twin impeller fire fighter pump ensures reliability and water delivery under the most adverse of conditions. If needed a 10 HP Yanmar Diesel 50mm Davey Twin fire fighter pump can also be fitted for those requiring performance from a diesel-fuelled engine.

Two (2) 50m Quikspray Hose Reels, one electric rewind, the other manual, with 25mm Storz couplings at both ends of the hoses provide flexibility and compatibility with most standard fire fighting vehicles and their equipment. The two hoses totalling 100m, gives the user a huge coverage area.

The FR747 is supplied with a 6m length of 50mm poly suction hose and a 50mm Camlok coupling on both ends as well as a foot valve with stainless steel strainer. It is invaluable when the nearest available water is a dam or tank without pressure. A simple effective primer pump offers reliability at all times. An optional floating shoe for the foot valve is available for water sources with sediment on the bottom. The shoe floats the foot valve near the water surface, minimising sediment collection into the suction system and fire fighting pump.

The FR747 body is powder coated steel for a good looking, long lasting finish, and 5mm aluminium tread plate flooring provides a solid surface for equipment mounting.

The FR747 is also equipped with an Aquafoam FP135 foam proportioning system. This innovative round the pump system allows quick and simple dispensation of low concentrations of fire fighting foam into the water stream. Concentration is adjustable at the turning of the control knob. These foam proportioners are calibrated to 6% and are NATA pressure tested to 2000PSI (13 700 KPA).

Fitted to the front of these proportioners is an electroluminescent panel. This panel emits light at precisely the right frequency to be highly visible through smoke and was developed some 10 years ago specifically for military applications.

These units have proven themselves repeatedly. They continue to be the vehicle of choice for those individuals or organisations wanting reliability and value for dollars spent.
